Protein Pasta with Chicken Meatballs

Some nights you just want a nourishing, hearty pasta dish that’s comforting and filling. And there’s nothing wrong with giving into that craving and making a delicious homemade lasagna or ordering your favorite eggplant parm.

But oftentimes these Italian dishes are heavier on the carbs, oils and cheese and light on the protein, which might not make you feel your best and won’t support your weight goals when eaten on a regular basis.

That being said, you don’t need to give up pasta and just eat salad. I mean pasta is one of the easiest meals to throw together for a quick family dinner. Luckily, there are many ways to upgrade these foods to make them cleaner and more nutritious, that don’t require you to turn veggies into spaghetti.

This pasta recipe is made with a lentil and quinoa pasta that actually tastes like the real deal but is much higher in protein and only contains those two ingredients. I personally enjoy this pasta even more because it leaves me feeling good, and I know that I’m getting the fiber and protein I need without all the carbs and sugar.

There are many brands nowadays that make protein pasta, whether from chickpeas or lentils, but not all of them taste good enough to swap out the real stuff. And trust me, I’ve tried them all to know the good ones.

My personal favorite is Ancient Harvest, which makes various types of pasta- all of which taste great and are made from super simple ingredients, like quinoa and green lentils.

Simple, clean and high protein.

You can go with regular meatballs or these chicken meatballs, which are a personal and family favorite. Ground chicken is delicious and is underrated in my opinion. Try them out and see how you like it mixed with some delicious sauce and pasta!
