What To Do When You Hit a Weight Loss Plateau

Sure, there are probably things many of us could do a little better when it comes to our food choices, habits or workout routines, and an important part of the puzzle is having a strong foundational plan that sets you up for success.

But if you find that you’re doing all the “right” things, yet you’re no longer seeing the weight loss happen or the results you want, there are some ways you can step it up a notch to get your body back into weight loss mode.

  1. I know there’s a lot of talk about protein, and you’re probably tired of hearing about it, but the truth is many people- especially women- are not consuming enough protein or the right amount of protein at the right time of day. I’m intentional every day with trying to get more protein because I used to think a piece of cheese or 2 egg whites was enough (it’s not).

  2. Incorporate some type of strength training to help redefine and tone up your body while boosting your metabolism and fat burning hormones. This can be a game changer if you’re currently focused only on cardio or if you’re looking to step up your weight loss journey.

  3. Stop relying on the scale. Weight loss can look very different and even vary from day to day depending on hormones/cycle, a day of higher-sodium foods, workouts, etc., not to mention gaining muscle and losing fat. The best way to judge your success is by how your clothes fit and how you feel getting dressed in the morning.

  4. Take digestive enzymes before having a heavier meal, especially when eating out and having foods or ingredients that could cause digestive issues and bloating. This is the supplement I like and recommend to my 1-on-1 clients.

  5. Start your mornings with warm water with lemon. It’s an oldie but a goodie and it makes a big difference in your digestion as well as how efficiently your liver helps to detox your body.
