The Most Helpful Thing I Do When I Return from a Trip to Stay Healthy and In Shape
One of the MOST HELPFUL things I do right after returning from a trip or time away is RESET my kitchen and PREP whatever I will need.
Even with the routines I have in place when traveling, as soon as I'm home I make a point to prep my food and home so it's easy to get back to my routines and make healthy choices.
The following are the exact things I do to reset:
🛒 Place a big grocery order through @instacart (delivery or pick up) bc it saves so much time. We're at a point in my house where the reorder section has everything we need, making it even easier to place a quick order. You can schedule your order, allowing you to set this up ahead of time, or you can even shop your order during your car ride home from the shore. No this not an AD, I'm just a really big fan 😮.
🍞 Do a quick clean out and and organization of the fridge and pantry. I throw out any old food and get rid of anything I know we're not going to eat. Then I organize what's left and create the space I will need for our new groceries.
🍓 Wash and chop fruit and veggies that need the prep work and put them into containers to make it easier to reach for something healthy. No one wants to cut up a pepper when they're looking for a snack, but if it's washed and cut into pieces ready to eat, it becomes a hot commodity.
🧽 Clean the kitchen, wash any dishes and run the dishwasher so that my kitchen is organized and ready for me. Having everything available that I need, and the space to quickly prepare my food and drinks without having to first wash a sink full of dirty dishes, make me more eager to create a healthy meal. Plus a clean kitchen gives me a calmer mind which is a plus for everyone.
🏃🏻♀️ This might seem slightly off topic because it's not food related, but I wash a load of laundry that contains whatever I will want for my Yoga classes and workouts that week, so they're clean and ready for me. This helps motivate you to incorporate movement and make you more likely to commit to it.
This doesn't have to take a lot of time but it really is worth the effort it takes to be prepared and organized when you want to live a healthy lifestyle and achieve your ideal weight.
