SNACKING during the pandemic

We love a good snack break in our house 🥨🍪. And honestly, as a mom, sometimes that's all I have time for. So while I preach to my clients the importance of eating actual meals, I'm also a realistic Nutritionist and mom, and I know that sometimes you just have to eat and go. I like to call them mini meals, and I aim to make them with cleaner ingredients that contain protein and fat to help keep the energy going and hunger at bay.

My go-to's are below and, and they’re perfect for the whole fam!

🥨 @gomacro bars- These have become a staple in our house and one of my favorite morning meal or late afternoon snacks. They are full of nutrients and clean ingredients, while being free of dairy and gluten. Jagger LOVES them too, in fact I can never eat an entire one if he’s nearby. Our favorite flavor is double chocolate peanut butter chip. Read that again bc they're that good. They also make a kids version, which are delicious and also a more nutritious snack. Those are only 100 cals, so I give to Jags as a snack.

🥨 2 Hard boiled eggs and avocado (I use one egg yolk only bc I don't like the taste of too much.) Chop them up and mix together with a sprinkle of sea salt. This snack is full of healthy fat and protein, which will keep you feeling full, light and satisfied. To make this easier when you’re busy, hard boil the eggs the night before and peel them

🥨 Rice cake, avocado and sliced turkey (or nutritional yeast for vegan option and extra b vitamins). This is another mix of protein and fat with a nice mix of good carbs and added crunch. Keep in mind that this is not a meal

🥨 Organic cheese stick, apple and handful of nuts. This snack is so easy to throw together and gives you a mix of nutrients, tastes and textures to enjoy. I always suggest going for raw nuts when possible, because the added oil and salt is not typically the healthier kinds and can take away from some of the benefits of the nuts.

🥨 Veggies, @simplemills crackers and hummus. Another mix of healthy fat/ protein, good carbs and also lots of fiber! My fave veggies for dipping are carrots, peppers, cucumbers, and cauliflower, but you can mix and match what you enjoy!

🥨 Yogurt (@siggi’s brand is a fave) with nuts and fruit. Ideally you want a yogurt that is higher in protein and low in sugar, especially added sugar (read the label), which is why Siggi’s is our go-to. They also make a kid’s pouch version that Jagger eats every morning. Throw in some nuts for added fat, protein and crunch and optional fruit, like berries, which are low in sugar and high in antioxidants!

🥨 Dates stuffed with nut butter and topped with dark chocolate chips. This is for that sweet tooth to help satisfy your craving with a nourishing and seriously delicious snack. Still filled with energy boosting nutrients and clean ingredients, and pairs perfectly with a cup of hot coffee.

Have any good mini meals or snacks? Lmk in the comments so I can try!
