Candy That Takes The Spook Out Of The Halloween Sugar Rush
While Halloween is all about dressing up in creative costumes, there’s no denying that the endless Halloween candy is also a main focus.
And although eating a couple pieces of candy isn’t going to hurt you, when it becomes a regular habit, it’s probably a good idea to switch to some healthier options. Luckily there are brands and products that are made with cleaner ingredients, better quality and a greater focus on sugar without the funk.
Remember that these treats are still sugar, not vegetables, so just because they’re healthier, doesn’t mean they’re the providing nutrients or causing a spike in your blood sugar.
6 Healthier Options To Take The Spook Out Of Your Halloween Candy
1. For chocolate with a crunch, reach for Unreal Candy Coded Chocolate Crispy Quinoa Gems, which are made with better ingredients and leave out the junk without leaving out the taste. The chocolate/crunch combo is perfect.
2. Similar to the crispy gems, Unreal Brand also makes plain chocolate gems that make for a great swap if you love m & ms.
3. As I previously mentioned, I’m a big fan of the gummy bears/ sour gummy/ swedish fish sorts, and Smart Sweets is one of the best options with a healthy twist. This candy is still mostly sugar, but it’s free of junk- like corn syrup, palm oil and red 40 that we want to try and avoid. The peach rings are my personal favorite variation.
4. Another brand to go for in the fruit snack department is Yum Earth Organic. They have gummy bears, skittle copycats and lollipops, just to name a few. In fact, they have a Halloween edition that you could stock up on for your trick-or-treaters.
6. Something that goes under the radar when you’re craving a gummy-like candy to satisfy your sweet tooth is fruit bars. These are often marketed towards kids, but they make for a quick and healthier option. These Target brand strips are great, along with That’s It brand (the name says it all;)). I’m also a huge fan of these fruit whips.
7. A tried and true swap is Justin’s Mini Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups, which in my opinion, taste better than the original.
If there’s anything you think I should add to this list, please me know, because I LOVE a good healthy swap- especially in the candy department. XX
