An Easy Habit To Help You Eat More Veggies

If one of your goals this year is to take control of your health and lose or manage weight, then it's important to focus on making small changes and creating simple habits that are attainable and sustainable.

A topic that has been popular among my clients the past couple of weeks is regarding better habits around grocery shopping and meal planning.

One of my favorite tips that I always recommend is to utilize frozen foods and make a habit of stocking your kitchen with them with every grocery run.

I feel like frozen foods don’t get enough credit, but it’s a super easy and convenient way to make a healthy meal. Frozen foods give you fresh food whenever you want it and typically all you have to do it heat the food up, so it doesn’t get much easier than that. Plus, there are so many different frozen options, from fruit and veggies to pizzas and burgers, that you can make a whole meal just from what you have in the freezer.

Some of my favorites include:

Frozen veggies: heat olive or avocado oil in a large pan or wok and dump in 2 or 3 bags of frozen veggies. Certain veggies, like broccoli will take longer to cook than something like frozen peppers, so adjust the cooking time accordingly. This is one of my favorite ways to cook veggies and add them to any meal.

Frozen brown rice. These last long, although we go through them quickly in my house, and they're super easy to make. Just pop a bag in the microwave for 3 minutes and you're good to go. You can season with olive oil and sea salt and add as a side or base to your meal.

Grain-Free pizza bites. We all love these in my house. They're delicious, made with clean ingredients and you can pop them in the air fryer for 6 minutes for a quick meal or snack. Not to mention they're delicious and come with different fillings.

Frozen proteins like veggie burgers and organic beef or chicken dogs. Going with the theme, these are really great sources of clean protein that are easy to make and you don't have to risk them going bad.

There are so many options: fish, burgers, stir fry mixes, potatoes, fruit, dessert :) and more, So, find what works for you but make it a habit of keeping your freezer stocked with easy to make foods that set you up for better eating.
